THE EDIT - STYLE TRENDS FROM THE FASHION WEEK 2016 CATWALKS

Dutch weather was blowing hot and cold over these last few weeks and just when you thought you could store your summer clothes the weather was all warm en summery again. But autumn is definitely in the air. So UNC got you the key style trends from the New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks. What were the takeaways from the fashion shows? Besides al lot of velvet, statement furs, schoolgirl uniforms and one-arm tops, here are UNC’s style trends from the autumn/winter 2016 catwalks.

Embrace knit and sweaters
You’re in luck, thanks to Balenciaga and Stella McCartney the workaday fashion came to Paris Fashion Week, from bomber jackets to (varsity) sweaters. We are not a fan of the bomber jackets, but sweaters and jumpers we like! Stella McCartney showed some knit innovation on the runway: soft and unstructured, but all super cosy. So comfort is still key for fall 2016. Keep it low key and stay warm this autumn, go for a grey jumper or elegant off-white sweater.

Earrings
Giant ear pieces were on every catwalk. From the unwearable but artistic earrings shown at the Loewe catwalks to the long earrings of Roberto Cavalli. Check out our own Moss Copenhagen earrings, especially the ones you can wear as a single piece.

Overcoat
The navy overcoat was seen on the catwalks of Prada and Tommy Hilfiger. Little harder to manage for the shorter women, but hooray to high heels!

Ochre Yellow
The color (ochre) yellow was seen on the different catwalks and of course Sies Marjan really went for it. We love the contrast with the darker colors that we usually see during the cold weather months.

THE EDIT - THE WHITE BLAZER CHIC YEAR-ROUND

It doesn’t even matter what season it is, you can never go wrong with a white blazer which will make any outfit stand out and look instantly chic. Take the advice of stylish model Miranda Kerr. Make an all white outfit with a white top, or combine it with a camel or beige blouse. Go back to basics and pair it with jeans. For a modern twist, choose skinny of high waist trousers. If you want to lengthen your appearance, accessorize with a long necklace and pointed shoe combination. Whatever you do, with the white blazer you are able to create varying looks!

White Everst Blazer: €42.50         Mentor shirt: €42,50

Robin top: €27,50                           Lex Pa trousers: €109.00

Honky Tonk sunglasses: €45.00    Luci Heels: €169.00

THE EDIT - PICTURE PERFECT....#CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

As a fashion start-up you HAVE to be on instagram. But taking a perfect picture.....takes time & effort. Tonight I asked my (beautiful!) sisters to help me take a few pictures. Thus our journey begins of creating the perfect picture...the unfiltered version.

#seriousmodellook

It's a bird! Oh no it's our look for instagram...

My sister: Lisanne you need to post funny pictures to instagram

THE EDIT - FABRICS ABC

Fabrics. You always have a tag with a description of the fabrics, but what do we really know about fabrics? This post is dedicated to one of the most popular fabrics nowadays: VISCOSE. Viscose, also called rayon, is a fabric that feels soft, absorbs well and has a luxurious look & feel. Often people think viscose is 100% man-made, however the fabric is actually produced from cellulose (cotton).

Viscose, like other fabrics, has certain disadvantages. The process of creating viscose is less environmentally friendly than other fabrics. And finally viscose lacks insulation.

THE EDIT - SUITs YOURSELF LIKE RACHEL ZANE

It's not only the successful and handsome corporate lawyer Harvey Specter that makes me an addict of the serie Suits. Many women, myself included, watch Suits weekly to see the sophisticated style of paralegal Rachel Zane.

How to get the office chic meets smart casual look (and still mean business) yourself? Sleek power dressing like Rachel is easy to achieve with the right pencil skirt, a soft blouse, slimline sweater, or button up shirts and don't forget the high heels!

Look perfect for the job in this pencil skirt with dot detail by Storm & Marie or get yourself another fine (pencil) skirt.

Dot skirt (Storm & Marie): €69,95

THE EDIT - RELEASE YOUR INNER-NERD

Being a nerd (and dressing like one) is currently pretty cool. Case in point: when I was 12 you had to wear your backpack as low as possible because you never wanted to look like a nerd. Now... your backpack can't be high enough and being a nerd is definitely a look you want to go for. Scandinavian brands with their high collars and understated colors are perfect ingredients for this nerdy look. So button up & remember... you cannot wear your pants (or backpack!) high enough ;)

Desert blouse (Basic Apparel): € 59.95

Denim Noah Tailor Trousers (Storm & Marie): € 76.00

THE EDIT - EFFORTLESSLY COOL

Sometimes you see something on a hanger and think: Looks great but how can I ever wear this? However, you can actually combine this vest with almost anything! Combine the vest with a simple turtleneck like Kendall or be effortlessly cool like Gigi with a simple tank top.

Town Long vest: 85.00         Borgen waistcoat: 85.00

Robin DV Top: €27.50            Amplifier sunglasses: €45.00

Andy zip trousers: €69.00      Elly Nero heels: €199.00
